Warzone’s assault rifles remain the battle royale’s most popular form of weaponry thanks to their versatility and ease of use. But which stand out from the pack? Here are the top five best assault rifles in Warzone Season 4, ranked.

Season 4 dropped back on June 14, bringing Vondel, a DMZ reset and much, much more. In terms of the long awaited weapon adjustments, there weren’t as many as we’ve come to expect from seasonal updates. To narrow it down to assault rifles specifically, the class was largely untouched.

That doesn’t mean this list is unchanged from Season 3 though, especially in light of the widespread health adjustments (100 HP > 150 HP) that Season 4 introduced.

There’s also way more than five assault rifles in Warzone. Those that don’t make the list miss out because they’re just not as strong as our top five right now. The new Tempus Razorback, for example, misses out.

5) STB 556

The STB 556 was buffed in the Season 3 update and sped up the rankings in terms of popularity and viability. It continues to excel thanks to its fire-rate and damage, with its accuracy and iron sights the weapon’s main weaknesses. Both can be massively improved by employing a sensible optic and recoil-reducing attachments.

We’ve detailed our choices below, with the 42 Round Mag unquestionably the most important attachment to augment its efficiency and reduce your reloading:

  • Optic: Aim OP-V4
  • Comb: FTAC C11 Riser
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip
  • Magazine: 42 Round Mag
  • Underbarrel: Lockgrip Precision-40

4) Kastov 545

The Kastov 545, despite a slightly rocky and unspectacular start to life in Warzone, has excelled in MW2. We’ve seen it used regularly in Ranked Play, with power and speed making it an excellent mid-range weapon.

It still excels at that range in Warzone, but will noticeably fall off at longer distances. It’s a strong sniper support option because of its damage profile and handling. Just make sure you have an optic, extended mags and attachments to boost its handling even further:

  • Rear Grip: Ivanov ST-70 Grip
  • Muzzle: Echoless-80
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Magazine: 60 Round Mag
  • Optic: Aim OP-V4

3) M13B

The M13B has improved gradually since it was added back in Season One. It’s now among the best assault rifles in the game thanks to its buffed damage and range. These combine with fire-rate and handling to make a seriously powerful assault rifle.

We’re aiming to improve its accuracy and range with our attachments. The extended mags stand out as a must have, as well as the Lockgrip. It does impact ADS and sprint to fire speeds slightly, but it’s well worth taking the hits here for the boost it gives to your accuracy:

  • Optic: Aim OP-V4
  • Underbarrel: Lockgrip Precision-40
  • Rear Grip: D37 Grip
  • Magazine: 60 Round Mag
  • Stock: Bruen R90 Factory

2) M4

The M4 is a classic of the CoD series and has been very popular in the rebooted MW series, especially in multiplayer where it’s an early unlock and all-round powerful AR. It’s not really done a lot in Warzone though – until Season 3 Reloaded and Season 4.

For a high fire-rate AR, it’s exceptionally easy to use and performs well in a number of key areas. There’s a little bit of recoil to combat and extended mags are a must, but we’ve got both of those covered in our recommended build:

  • Underbarrel: Lockgrip Precision-40
  • Barrel: Hightower 20″ Barrel
  • Optic: Aim-OP V4
  • Stock: Tempus P80 Strike
  • Magazine: 60 Round Mag

1) Lachmann 556

The Lachmann 556 soared in popularity across Season 3 and sits in the proverbial driving seat in Season 4. Nerfs to rivals and buffs to its damage and range have made it a monster at medium ranges; the most important area for an AR.

It also boasts strong iron sights and negligible recoil, meaning it can compete at longer ranges – even if damage is slightly lower than we’d like. We recommend attachments to boost its handling, recoil and mobility, ensuring users can outpace other AR users in terms of getting ADS:

  • Muzzle: Harbinger D20
  • Barrel: 15.9″ Lachmann Rapp Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Phase-3 Grip
  • Optic: VLK 4.0 Optic
  • Magazine: 60 Round Mag

There you have it! Those are our rankings of the top five assault rifles in Warzone Season 4. This list is sure to change as we approach the mid-season update and beyond, so stick with us here and check out the related Warzone content below.
