You’d think that these two hunky rapscallions wouldn’t have all that much in common with one another, but think again. That’s right, out of all the awesome characters on both respective shows, we have a big ol’ soft spot for both Joey Tribbiani and Howard Wolowitz. Funny, charismatic, with a penchant for wooing the gals, both Joey and Howard are loveable rogues who always manage to put a smile on our faces, right?

Even though the long-running television show came to a close back in 2019, The Big Bang Theory is still an incredibly resonant and popular sitcom that really scratches that Friends-shaped itch in our hearts and souls.

With its awkward nerd culture gags, its loveable ragtag bunch of friendships, and its occasionally touching emotional poignancy, there’s a lot to love about Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s smash hit sitcom. But we can all agree that Sheldon Cooper is arguably one of the most iconic characters in the entire series, right?

While most might have dismissed Apple TV as a streaming service in an age where the streaming service has been ruled over by big players like Netflix and Hulu, there are tons of gems in Apple’s library that you’ve probably already heard about. The main cast of characters is incredibly fun and diverse, all packed with unique personalities that complement each other and even serve as foils to one another.

When John Wick was released back in 2014, few could have foreseen its level of success, receiving three sequels (so far), a TV series, and a spinoff led by Ana De Armas. The Keanu Reeves vehicle showed a new way to shoot action, now named gun-fu, while creating a universe and world-building that keeps getting better and better.

John Wick just wanted to be left alone with his grief and his new puppy, when the Russians stole his car and killed his dog. Since then, revenge has been the name of the game, showing with every movie more and more exciting and surprising fights and creative ways to kill enemies.

It’s already been nine years since Ted met the mother in the How I Met Your Mother finale. Even after all this time, we still miss Ted, Robin, Marshall, Lily, and, especially, Barney. The gang always had the same booth at McClaren’s, had slap bets, used to eat “sandwiches”, and made fun of Robin’s career as Robin Sparkles, and we loved them for each of those things.

As any How I Met Your Mother fan will attest, Barney was the breakout character, with his catchphrases, unique way of seeing the world, and love for his friends. His arc in the show might’ve been the best of all as he started as a womanizer without a conscience, and during the run of the show, became a (gasp!) monogamist, a husband, and a father, changing some of his most deplorable qualities and becoming a more lovable person in the end.

After four years, many of us still miss The Big Bang Theory, with its jokes, friendships, and romantic relationships. We love all the characters, from Sheldon to Leonard, Howard to Bernadette, Raj to Amy, and especially Penny. The peppy blonde might’ve started as a beautiful woman who seemed to be lacking in depth, but during the show’s 12 seasons, she became the heart and soul of The Big Bang Theory. So much so, that some fans still feel like the show did Penny dirty with its finale, as it changed some things she always believed in to get a typical TV series happy ending.

Penny is socially smart, enjoys hanging out with people, is the love of Leonard’s life, has a brother-sister relationship with Sheldon, is best friends with Bernadette and Amy, is a master at strategy games like chess, is always there for her friends, shares a love for yoga and rom-coms with Raj, and might be a better actress than her resume shows. 

Wes Craven’s 1996 legendary slasher, Scream, re-wrote the blood-drenched rulebook. Not only was it an intelligent, self-referential love letter to the horror classics of yesteryear, but it also struck the right balance between charming meta-humor and hide-behind-the-pillow scares.

Spanning six films, an eponymous Netflix TV series, as well as an appearance in Behaviour Interactive’s popular asymmetrical cat-and-mouse horror game Dead By Daylight, Scream’s Ghostface is equally iconic as it is creepy.

It’s been four years since The Big Bang Theory ended, and we said goodbye to Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Howard, Bernadette, Raj, and Amy. Although the story continues for Sheldon in the past through The Young Sheldon, we miss this group of geeks and their much more street-smart women. Especially Sheldon.

Sheldon is smart –sometimes too smart for his own good–, has an eidetic memory, and is one of the bigger train fans on planet Earth. He also knows how to play the piano, loves comics, and is uncomfortable with physical contact. Even then, he’s able to have some loyal friends and a girlfriend as they see his sweeter and less mean side.

In 2022, Tom Cruise reprised one of his most iconic roles decades after first playing the character. In fact, his portrayal of U.S. fighter pilot Maverick brought Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses into American mainstream pop culture. It’s hard to name another actor who has done more for branding and styling Ray-Ban sunglasses than him, even sporting a pair in 1983’s Risky Business. Over 30 years later, the sequel Top Gun: Maverick was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Original Song, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.

Director Joseph Kosinski is no stranger to reviving classic movies for today’s audiences, having directed Tron: Legacy (2010), which is the follow-up to the sci-fi classic Tron (1982). Top Gun: Maverick sees Val Kilmer’s Iceman return and also introduces Miles Teller’s Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. Nostalgic Top Gun fans will remember a young Bradley Bradshaw sitting atop a piano as his father Nick “Goose” Bradshaw loudly sings in duet with Maverick.

There’s no denying that Riot Games has proved itself a master of creating unique and interesting characters, and Valorant boasts one of the most colorful and exciting rosters in any video game. All of the personalities are memorable, and each brings its own unique flavor to add diversity and intrigue to the universe.

The synergy of gunplay and hero abilities is what makes Valorant such a unique and exciting gameplay experience, but there’s no doubt that its diverse roster of Agents is also a huge part of the game’s appeal. From their colorful personalities and eye-catching designs to the different strategies their in-game utility offers, Valorant’s Agents are seriously cool, and Riot Games has been adding to the roster slowly ever since launch; most recently, with Gekko.

Just as has been the case for a while now, Gekko and other recent additions like Harbor and Fade have received lengthy cinematics and in-game clues to flesh out the lore that gives context to their backstories. But how much have you been paying attention? Could you recall the backstories for each respective character?

After Charlie Cox’s Daredevil made his MCU debut in She-Hulk, many fans anticipated more Netflix Marvel characters to reappear in the MCU as well. The Punisher seemed the least likely to find his way under the Disney banner. Although there are questions surrounding the tone and maturity of Disney’s take on the vigilante anti-hero, there is no question Jon Bernthal should return and play the character.

If there is one thing the MCU excels at (especially against the DCU), it is perfectly casting relatively under-the-radar actors that fans can’t imagine someone else better in the role. It’s safe to say Punisher fans, even with some lingering trepidation, grew excited when news recently broke that Jon Bernthal would reprise the role. His return and MCU debut take place around spring 2024 when the 18-episode Daredevil: Born Again series releases on Disney+.

Friends ran for 10 seasons and became such a phenomenon that each actor earned $1 million an episode, and NBC thought it was cheap since it got them all the attention in the world. Every one of its six actors became famous and got new opportunities they never thought possible. Funnily enough, the show is still famous in the streaming world, and people who were not born when the series started are still enjoying the adventures of Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, and Monica.

Today is all about Joey Tribbiani. He might not have been the smartest character, but he was good-natured, loyal, caring, and protective of his friends. He also loved food and women, and they loved him back. Joey had chemistry with every other character, he shared a roof with Chandler, and Rachel, lived across the hall from Monica and had a unique bond with both Ross and, especially, Phoebe (initially she asked him to give her away in marriage, then shenanigans ensued and he ended up marrying them).

In 2024, it will have been 20 years since Friends ended its run, and yet the show is still one of the most watched on Netflix. Every day new generations are getting to know the adventures of Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Monica, and Chandler. Their place in the culture is big enough that they had a reunion show in 2021, and it was as successful as ever. 

One of the more loved characters on the show was sarcastic, funny, and very bad around women. Yes, that’s right: the one and only Chandler Bing. He was a loyal friend, with a job nobody understood, who had a bromance with his roommate Joey for many years (they even adopted the duck and the chicken together). That’s until he fell in love with his neighbor, the little sister to one of his best friends, Monica Geller. Their story is one for the ages, and arguably a better romance than the “will they, won’t they” relationship between Ross and Rachel.

So, it’s the end of the world…. again. Which is a super theme for this super show. Umbrella Academy began as a Dark Horse comic series written by My Chemical Romance singer/songwriter, Gerard Way. With many changes to the initial story, the series hit Netflix in 2019 and rose to popularity leaving fans begging for more from their favorite dysfunctional family. 

If you’ve been enjoying HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation then you’ll have noticed its terrifying, grim world makes for a fascinating setting. But would you want to live there? Probably not. Actually, definitely not. Taking on hordes of infected and gangs of ruthless bandits is exciting from the safety of your couch, but I think it’s safe to say the majority of us wouldn’t last three seconds in post-apocalyptic Seattle.
