How To Get and Where To Use the Mayor’s Briefcase Key in Warzone DMZ

The mayor doesn't need their briefcase anyway.

Warzone Season 4 – and more specifically its new Vondel environment – brought a massive amount of keys into DMZ for players to uncover, unlock and extract with. A particularly valuable one belongs to Vondel’s now MIA Mayor. Here’s how to get and where to use the Mayor’s Briefcase Key in Warzone DMZ.

How To Get the Mayor’s Briefcase Key in Warzone DMZ

Looting

Like other keys in Warzone Season 4, there are multiple ways to acquire the Mayor’s Briefcase. One is looting – but this is reliant on RNG and very longwinded. You’ll likely need to open a lot of chests, crates and duffels before finding any key. The chances of it being the one you want are next to nothing.

Phalanx Faction

A better way to unlock it is to complete the Hunter DMZ Mission. This is a Tier 4 Mission in Season 4’s new Phalanx Faction. It’ll require you to have completed the majority of missions from the preceding Tiers to unlock Hunter. Even then, it’s not a piece of cake, with Tier 4 missions generally tough and time consuming. The objectives for the Hunter DMZ Mission are:

  1. Complete 3 hunt contracts in one deployment.
  2. Exfil successfully.

It’ll also reward players with 15,000 XP and reputation for the Phalanx Faction.

You can locate Hunt Contracts via your map: they feature a skeleton’s face within the contract emblem. They require you to essentially hunt down and eliminate an enemy player. Completing three in one deployment might take some time and effort given how real-life enemies will put up much more of a fight than DMZ’s AI.

Sewers Maintenance Crate

The best way to earn it, by some distance, is to use Vondel’s key chain. All of the keys added form a wider chain, with one unlocking the next which unlocks the next and so on. It’s a guaranteed and usually fairly simple method to acquire a certain key. The only issue is that you may have to work your way backwards depending on your DMZ progress and the keys you already have access to.

Specifically, the Mayor’s Briefcase Key is found in the Sewers Maintenance Crate. This is located underneath Vondel, in map grid E5.

The image on the left showcases the Crate’s location on Vondel, just northwest of the Stadium and southwest of the Market. The image on the right shows its precise location at the back of an apartment building.

Head to the location and you’ll come across an open manhole underneath a metal staircase. Climb down and into Vondel’s sewers. At the bottom of the ladder, you’ll find a Toolbox and a locked Duffel Bag. You need the Sewers Maintenance Key to get inside the bag. This is acquired by using the Diver’s Crate Key. Check out our linked guides for both if you need to.

Open up the bag and loot, taking the weapon and the Mayor’s Briefcase Key. Now we’ve got it, let’s move on to where it is used in DMZ’s Vondel.

Where To Use the Mayor’s Briefcase Key

Unsurprisingly, the key is used to get into a briefcase that we assume belonged to Vondel’s mayor at one point or another. The mayor’s fate is unknown, with them likely fleeing when Vondel was overtaken by warring Factions.

The Mayor’s Briefcase sits on a bench to the west of City Hall and to the. east of Vondel University. The image on the left shows its location in the north of the map. The image on the right shows its exact position, on a bench in the northern-most square in front of City Hall.

Finding the Briefcase shouldn’t be too hard, simply requiring you to spot the metallic case on a bench. Getting to it is another matter though.

There’s a lot of AI that patrol the grounds of City Hall, with the POI itself being a locked building that also houses a lot of bots. We recommend approaching from the road to the north and working your way down. This should allow you to take out the bots closest to the case without informing every single one in the region of your presence. A suppressed weapon might also help for this.

When the coast is clear, head to the case and interact with it to use your key.

Inside you’ll find a Gold Bar that’s well worth stowing, as well as the Windmill Bag Key. This puts you on the route to earning the Barista’s Bag Key and Stage Bag Key.

That’s everything to know about getting and using the Mayor’s Briefcase Key in Warzone DMZ. Be sure to stay with us for everything CoD’s extraction mode, including the best loadouts in Season 4.
